The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) starts the New Year on a high note.

Seven trade exhibitions will stage at the HKCEC for the first time in 2008.

The exhibitions are International Homebuyer and Property Investor ’08, ART HK 08, TETRA World Congress 2008, Asia Fruit Logistica + Asiafruit Congress, Hong Kong International Arts & Antiques Fair (HKIAAF) 2008, AMAZIA, and InfoCommAsia 2008

Mr Cliff Wallace, HKCEC’s Managing Director, said, “These seven exhibitions and their organisers from around the world are certainly a welcome addition to HKCEC’s strong event and client portfolio.  It is gratifying to see such promising start to 2008 while the HKCEC’s second expansion project is underway to better accommodate demand from our existing and potential organisers in 2009.”

“These new exhibitions serve emerging markets in Asia.  Strategic decisions by our organisers reaffirm HKCEC’s prime position as Asia Pacific’s best convention and exhibition centre, and Hong Kong as a truly global market place with unmatched advantages for hosting trade exhibitions and important industry gatherings. While we welcome around 80 annual or biennial major exhibitions every year, we dedicate focused business development efforts to expand our portfolio and bring new international and word-class exhibitions to Hong Kong.”

HKCEC’s impressive exhibition portfolio is headed by Asia and world’s largest trade fairs.  With HKCEC’s growing event portfolio and global reputation for service excellence, Hong Kong’s title of Trade Fair Capital of Asia remains unchallenged.

Why Hong Kong and the HKCEC?

Mr Franz Caduc, Director of AMAZIA, says, “For the past two years, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre has been the venue of Reed MIDEM’s MIPIM Asia international property tradeshow.

The excellent facilities and services provided by the HKCEC have encouraged us to launch AMAZIA in Hong Kong in November 2008. AMAZIA will be a unique tradeshow and conference event serving professionals in the entertainment industry.

Mr Magnus Renfrew, Fair Director of ART HK 08 is impressed by what Hong Kong and HKCEC offer and says, “As the third largest art market in the world by auction turnover and with no tax on the import and export of art, Hong Kong is the perfect location for us to launch ART HK 08. As the leading venue in Hong Kong and host to the major auction sales in Asia, we are very proud to be holding our Fair at the HKCEC.”

Mr Gérald Lamusse, Managing Director of Global Produce Events GmbH, says, “ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA / Asiafruit Congress is Asia's leading trade event in the fresh produce business. We seek out key cities in the region in which to host our event. Hong Kong is without a doubt one of the key cities in Asia, as an extremely accessible hub with an important role on the region's major trade routes. The venue we select must correspond to the requirements we have, and the HKCEC certainly fits the bill in this respect for our 2008 event by offering us the facilities we require to organise our top-class event.”
