The Tourism and Convention Administration Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has selected Steven Hacker, CAE, president of the International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM), as the 2005 Industry Leader of the Year.

“Steven has been a supporter of our convention management program since he first took office,” says department chair Patti Shock. “Industry support is what has made this program thrive,” she adds. “And Steven is in the forefront in supporting education.”

The award will be presented at an awards dinner honoring outstanding executives of the hospitality industry on June 9, at the Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas.  For information on attending the dinner, contact Patti Shock at: shock@unlv.nevada.edu

“I am deeply honored to be recognized as Industry Leader of the Year by UNLV. The individuals who manage the Tourism and Convention Administration Department have made great strides in educating students about the exhibition and events industry and preparing them for the challenges they will face, and I am proud to be a part of this effort,” Hacker said.
