Expomedia Group Plc has signed an agreement for a 20 year lease on a new, 2,750sqm multi-functional exhibition and conference centre to be built on a 10,000sqm site in the heart of Belgrade. This agreement is the result of the sale, to a development consortium, of Expomedia Group’s right to a choice parcel of land, which had been successfully tendered for 18 months earlier. The purchaser will construct the new venue and an adjoining hotel and lease the venue to Expomedia Group, which requires no capital outlay by the Group. This major area of redevelopment, in the up and coming business district of New Belgrade, enjoys an enviable location with excellent transport connections, only 20 minutes from the airport and within a five minute drive of the Belgrade Hyatt and Intercontinental hotels. EXPO XXI Belgrade will be the first and only modern venue to be built in the city and will offer column free, flexible hall space which can be adapted for exhibitions, conferences and other special events. The centre will also offer organisers all the latest technologies and a range of on-site services as well as 200 car parking spaces. Construction is due to begin in the coming months for an expected completion date of September 2005. Expomedia also anticipates launching a series of exhibitions and conferences in Belgrade and has created a local division of CEE Exhibitions in Belgrade to work on these new events and in partnership with other international organisers in bringing established brands to the market.
