Visitors to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre can now unwind between business sessions and take in superb views of Sydney at the venue’s new waterfront Bayside Lounge.

A first for an Australian conference centre, the two-storey Lounge features a spectacular outlook over Darling Harbour and the city, and a striking, contemporary décor designed to create a relaxed ambience.

The Lounge offers a chic bar for those looking to chill out over a quiet drink and snack, while barista-made coffees are popular with visitors wanting to recharge.

Guests can also enjoy a light meal from an à la carte menu created by the Centre’s renowned Executive Chef, Detlef Haupt. Offerings range from a pumpkin risotto with radicchio, chilli and olives to a grilled angus beef tenderloin with taleggio and potato skins - all served with a view over the harbour.

Upstairs, a fully equipped business centre provides the perfect space for delegates, exhibitors and organisers to catch up on emails and discuss business, while the adjacent Bayside Boardroom is ideal for half or full day meetings for up to 24 people.

Accommodating up to 150 people, the Bayside Lounge is also available for hire for cocktail events.

Launching the Lounge, Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen described it as the perfect link between the Centre and its surrounds.

Sydney is such a superb setting for an event that we wanted to create a venue where our visitors could relax and connect with the city.

“The Bayside Lounge’s sensational water views, its spacious design and relaxed atmosphere really embrace the spirit of Sydney and create an amazing experience that no other convention centre can emulate,” Mr van Amerongen said.

“It gives a unique dimension to our venue that is sure to add to the success of any event.”

Mr van Amerongen said the Bayside Lounge was a key component of the Centre’s refurbishment program which has seen new furnishings and carpets introduced throughout the venue, the addition of contemporary glass wall panelling and the installation of more than 150 LCD signage display screens.
