The Design Group, a previously quiet giant in the events industry, is planning on making more “noise,” advancing its presence into Central Florida and naming a key industry executive, Michael Quatrini, as its General Manager of their Southeast Region.

The company has additional offices in Vancouver, BC; Dallas, TX; and Las Vegas, NV, and said that it would have made a Central Florida advance sooner had it not been for last year’s active hurricane season, causing a delay in its grand opening.

Quatrini has extensive event industry experience and brings over 15 years of entrepreneurial success to his position. Previous to joining the Design Group, Quatrini was instrumental in turning around the Central Florida office for another national events production company.

Other positions he has held include serving as Vice President & General Manager for the Brazilian Tourist Network; Director of Sales for the then brand new concept in entertainment, the IMAX Theater, Muvico Pointe 21 in Orlando, Florida and as CEO of a multi-million dollar travel & events company which he founded and later was acquired by a national firm. 

Unafraid to tackle challenges, Quatrini has been at the helm of other start-up organizations and new ventures, including having opened his own consultancy for a number of years. Many in the area know Quatrini as someone who is experienced in directing all aspects of startup travel and events companies, including international sales and marketing, budgeting, accounting, vendor and client relations, and market research.

Quatrini’s responsibilities for The Design Group will include implementing a conceptual plan for he entire organizational sales management and operations blueprint for the company's Southeast Region. According to Nancy Jacobs, The Design Group President and CEO, Quatrini will be tasked with providing complete day-to-day management for the company's newest and most strategic region.  In addition, Quatrini will oversee Event Managers, analyze new markets, expenditures, quality of service and general event operations. 

“Mike is up to the task,” said Jacobs. “We saw Mike start-up or turn around other event company's in Florida.  Now that The Design Group is ready for further growth,  we  immediately contacted Mike to see if we could interest him in taking on yet another start-up in Florida. I know that Mike likes a challenge and I like excellence. I know he brings a lot of new energy to the company and the Central Florida event market.”

Quatrini is well known in the Orlando area, having helped negotiate Secured Preferred Service Provider with many Central Florida Hotels and Convention Centers. He has managed negotiations with many of the largest organizations producing their events throughout Florida.

Often quoted in the press as an industry expert, Quatrini has also served as a Keynote Speaker at industry trade events and is active in community groups and associations.
