Eventia, the new UK events industry trade association, is launching an online directory of freelance staff for the exclusive use of its Event Organiser member companies.

Over 100 freelance events professionals have already shown an interest in signing up for the new register.

Participating freelancers will be able to upload their profile to the website, including CV, relevant experience and skillsets, as well as their availability dates. Information provided by them will only be viewable by Eventia Members.

In addition to enabling freelancers to browse for suitable positions, the system provides for an automated advice function whereby at the end of each day new vacancy postings and freelancer details will be computer-matched.

E-mails will then be automatically generated to freelancers who fulfil the requested criteria. These e-mails will include links to the positions available, enabling the freelancer to follow up directly with the posting company.

Eventia agency members can access the system at no cost by posting details of their vacancies, including date and required skill-sets, online. This information will be password-protected, and only viewable by registered freelancers and the member company posting the vacancy. Within 24 hours of posting their advertisement the ad will be automatically e-mailed to all registered freelancers whose details match their requirements.

Event organiser members will also have the option of selecting a specific freelancer via a search facility, and contacting them direct.

The Association is currently testing the system and will go live before the end of April.
