Following on the resounding success of its inaugural trade workshop for UK buyers in October 2006, Dublin Convention Bureau, in association with several of its industry partners, will host a workshop for senior meeting planners from Germany, France, Belgium and the UK from the 22-24th June 2007.

Jean Evans, CEO of Dublin Convention Bureau, said “Our October workshop was such a success from both a supplier and a buyer perspective that we felt it was time to apply the model to the European market”.

“Not only did our first workshop generate at least € 100,000 worth of business for the city to date, it showcased our vibrant and dynamic capital to excellent advantage and enabled us and our suppliers to establish firm business relationships with the buyers who attended”.

Ms Evans stated “The focus this time is on city centre and north side properties and activities, we’ve kept some popular elements from the inaugural event such as the treasure hunt which is great for getting to know the city better and really brings out the competitive spirit in everyone and included some new elements such as a trip on the Sea Safari to Malahide”.

A traditional irish evening at the newly refurbished Old Jameson Distillery and a gala dinner at Number Six – the Royal College of Physicians will ensure that buyers get to sample the breadth of Irish hospitality available and will renew and revive them after an intensive three hour workshop of pre-scheduled appointments with suppliers on Saturday morning at Croke Park Conference Centre.

She continued “Once again support from the trade in Dublin has been uniformly excellent and is a testament to the how worthwhile our members found the October event. Some of the partners working with us on ensuring the European event proves just as successful are Failte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Ovation, Custom Ireland, Croke Park Conference Centre, Clontarf Castle Hotel, Jurys Doyle Group, Carton House, The Conrad, The Merrion, the Old Jameson Distillery, Number Six, Ireland Xtreme, Company Occasions and Sea Safari. Without the cooperation of these partners the workshop simply would not take place and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support”.

Supplier and buyer places for the entire weekend are completely full and an extensive waiting list is in operation. Ms Evans concluded “We are tremendously excited about this weekend and very much looking forward to welcoming our buyers to the city where we plan to surprise, delight and educate them about what a great meeting destination Dublin is”.
