The Board of Directors of Congrex Sweden AB announced the appointment of Dr Layth Bunni as the new Managing Director (Verkställande Direktör) of the company.

 

Dr Bunni has a broad academic, business and public services background. He has a PhD in molecular biology from Trinity College, Dublin and has worked with the highest levels of government in the UK and overseas. His latest assignment has been working as the team leader responsible for the set up of the Centre of Government institutions for the Interim Government of Iraq.

 

In the UK Dr Bunni as Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision, the UK’s first urban regeneration company, worked closely with the Leader of Liverpool City Council to prepare a strategic plan for the regeneration of the City of Liverpool. His work in Liverpool has made a significant contribution to the City winning the UK’s nomination for European Capital of Culture in 2008 and World Heritage Site status.

 

Dr. Bunni has also extensive experience in the Private Sector, working with Andersen Consulting (today Accenture) for nine years to Senior Manager Level.

 

Dr Bunni is 39, an Irish national and he lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He will take up his position with Congrex Sweden on 21 February 2005.
