Direct Energy Centre Canada’s largest exhibition and convention centre, announces the commencement of a major exhibit hall lighting retrofit designed to reduce energy consumption by 2.3million kWh annually and is estimated to provide an annual savings of 38.7% in the overall lighting costs at Direct Energy Centre.

Direct Energy Centre, located on the grounds of Exhibition Place, Toronto is strongly committed to the protection of the environment.

One of the most exciting initiatives for 2006 is a major lighting upgrade. This initiative will replace existing 1000 watt fixtures and lamps in the main exhibit halls and public Galleria areas with energy efficient, 400 watt, high light output products.

Arlene Campbell, General Manager said “This project was undertaken with a view to saving energy and reducing carbon emissions while ensuring the light capability was optimized for exhibitors and event clients.”

The photometrics of the "Duraglow" fixture selected outperformed all competition at the 54 foot high mounting heights required at Direct Energy Centre. The combination of efficiency, effective sound rating and durability will yield years of trouble free operation.

This fixture combined with the latest "ceramic arch tube" metal halide lamps will provide the most energy savings available while enhancing the overall lighting environment within Direct Energy Centre.

This product combination will yield higher overall light levels as well as a higher colour rendering index for an exceptional visual experience.
