The important and increasingly popular destination of Kirklees in Pennine Yorkshire has re-joined the British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD), one of the UK’s new conference organisations, just 12 months after it announced that it was to resign from BACD membership.

Kirklees represents over 30 conference and meeting venues, plus associated attractions and suppliers, in the Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Batley areas.

Jess Newbould, Tourism Officer for Conference Kirklees said: “Over the last year BACD has shown increasing dedication to its members, and I’m delighted that Conference Kirklees has re-joined the organisation.

“Ideally situated near Leeds, Manchester, Bradford and Wakefield, Conference Kirklees boasts modern and exciting conferencing, but without city prices. I’m confident that our membership of BACD will boost recognition of our sought-after destination.”

Commented Tony Rogers, BACD chief executive: “We are delighted to welcome Conference Kirklees back into membership of BACD.  They represent an important destination and their return to the BACD family means that we can now offer organisers one-stop access to all the significant locations and venues throughout the British Isles.”

The British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) is the trade association representing conference destination marketing organisations across in the British Isles. Members are convention and visitor bureaux, conference desks, and national tourist boards. Founded in 1969, BACD is the oldest of the conference sector associations in the UK.

BACD’s mission is to: support, promote and represent British conference destinations. It fulfils this mission by providing: advice, research, education, networking, accreditation, business leads and joint marketing opportunities, and through maximising the opportunities for alliances and collaboration with key strategic partners.
