Destination Milton Keynes (DMK), the official provider of tourism services for Milton Keynes and the surrounding area, launched the city’s first destination guide and leisure map at a special 2nd birthday celebration at stadium:mk.

The celebration, which was attended by more than 70 guests, marks the organisation’s continued success as the UK’s first independently-operated tourist information service.

With over 60 members from across the region, DMK offers key tourism services to help promote and develop Milton Keynes as a destination for business and leisure.

As part of its marketing campaign to champion the city, a comprehensive glossy destination guide has been produced to inform visitors of the wide range of activities available from heritage and arts, nightlife, sporting activities and family entertainment.

The A4-sized guide also includes a section for doing business in the city which highlights the extent of Milton Keynes business offering.

The guide advises visitors that the city offers some of the best venues in the UK including 30 hotels, four dedicated conference centres, 10 sporting arenas and 15 unusual venues all with meeting and conference facilities.

“We are very excited about the launch of the destination guide which will now be distributed among our members and through public information services across the country,” said Jackie Inskipp, general manager at Destination Milton Keynes.

“With the guidance of Carys Underwood, one of DMK’s marketers, the members have worked closely to produce an informative, yet vibrant and easy to read guide that is freely available to visitors.”

The destination guide has been sponsored by Milton Keynes Council, the Association of Milton Keynes Hoteliers and Lloyds TSB plc, DMK’s first corporate member.

Pete Winkelman, chairman of MK Dons and a founder member of Destination Milton Keynes spoke at the event: “We are very proud to mark our 2nd birthday with this significant achievement. It demonstrates that by working together we are stronger in championing Milton Keynes.”

Two signed MK Dons’ shirts were auctioned at the event raising £350 for RNLI and MK MIND. The proud owners are now Robert Watts, general manager at Hilton hotel and John Emberton, chairman at Emberton Dale.

This month (13-15 May), Destination Milton Keynes will be showcasing the city’s leisure and conference facilities on behalf of its members and its free venue-finding service at The Times Crème Event, the market-leading show dedicated to PAs and Executive Secretaries.
