Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre has secured three new major international conventions for Brisbane in the last three months, taking to 72 the number of new conventions confirmed for Brisbane and the Centre in the last 12 months, delivering 65,000 visitors to Brisbane with an estimated economic benefit to the city of some $154 million. The Centre’s International Sales Team has confirmed the three new events to be hosted by the Centre as the 2009 International Reach to Recovery Conference, the International Symposium on Remote Sensing of the Environment in 2010 and the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) in 2011. The Centre’s team works closely with its industry partners including Brisbane Marketing and the Queensland State Government to secure major international events.
The International Reach to Recovery Conference, which focuses on breast cancer treatment and the International Symposium on Remote Sensing of the Environment, support the Queensland Government's Smart State Strategy and confirm the State’s achievements in world leading research and development in these areas. Representing the fields of medicine, science and business, these events will also create an increased focus on these key sectors, generating new business opportunities and facilitating a sharing of specialist knowledge at the highest level. Brisbane Convention Centre General Manager, Robert O’Keeffe said the Centre was delighted to be chosen as the host venue for such an impressive line-up of international meetings and looked forward to demonstrating the Centre’s and Brisbane’s wide international appeal. Mr O’Keeffe said the Centre is an essential player in the business events and meetings industry and is committed to the continued growth and development of Brisbane as a major international meetings destination. |
