The Convention Industry Council (CIC) announced the appointment of Richard W. Hunter, Jr. as Director of the APEX best practices initiative for the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry.

Acting CIC President Jason Clawson said, “Rich brings to CIC an excellent background in project management and a record of success in managing complex technical programs. These skills will be essential to the development of APEX adoption activities for industry practitioners and the integration of APEX standards into commercial software products.”

Mr. Hunter gained valuable experience in the design, development, and management of technical projects using web-based standards at SRA International and Loki Technologies. In his most recent position at Hewlett-Packard, Rich was responsible for creating global business solutions for the financial services industry that integrated HP hardware with alliance partner software and services.

APEX Commissioner Terri Breining stated, “I’m delighted to have Rich Hunter join the APEX team. In a very short time, he has gained a sound understanding of what we intend to accomplish. As we move into the next phase of APEX, with a focus on marketing and implementation, we will certainly benefit from his experience in technology and international business.”

Rich is an alumnus of Brigham Young University, where he earned a BA degree in Asian Studies and BS and MS degrees in Geography.
