As part of an ongoing effort to provide education-based resource information to the meetings industry, CGS will be distributing “The Guide to Room Block Management” to more than 20,000 associations and tradeshow managers in August beginning at the Annual Convention of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in Nashville, TN.

Building on the work of the Convention Industry Council’s Project Attrition, the 64-page resource guide will detail best practices for blocking rooms, managing registration and housing, and creating incentives for attendees and exhibitors to book in contracted blocks.

“The emergence of bargain travel websites has rewritten the rules of room block management,” said Bruce Harris, President, CGS. “Organizations wary of potential attrition damages are continually developing policies and procedures to create incentives for both attendees and exhibitors to book within the contracted blocks. We will share many of these successful strategies in this publication.”

Sponsored by Hilton Hotels, “The Guide to Room Block Management” will also feature case studies, statistics, and successful strategies for maximizing pick-up.

“This guide is a one of a kind resource designed to assist Meeting Professionals and hotels in developing strategies and tactics to ensure room blocks are maximized,” said Larry Luteran, Vice President Group Sales and Industry Relations, Hilton Hotels Corporation.

“We at Hilton are very excited to be partners with Conferon Global Services on this project and we are confident it will be embraced by all stakeholders interested in ensuring group room blocks are consistently achieved.”
