Daniel Lincoln, a current consultant and former employee of the convention bureau, has been named the bureau's new president and chief executive, effective April 17.

Lincoln succeeds Alan Welch at Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau. Welch, who is retiring, joined the bureau in May 2004 after spending more than 35 years at Procter & Gamble.

"Dan Lincoln is a high-powered chief executive who has the right combination of industry expertise, vision, passion and the talent necessary to aggressively lead the CVB during this most significant time in our history," said bureau board chairman John Taylor.

Lincoln served as vice president of tourism and membership at the Cincinnati bureau from 1990 to 1998.

He then moved to the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association, where he worked for five years, primarily as senior vice president of sales and marketing.

A native of Cincinnati, Lincoln founded a consultancy two years ago that provides sales and marketing plans to business and hospitality clients in Baltimore and Cincinnati.

Lincoln has served as a consultant for the bureau since September 2005. He developed an 18-month sales and marketing plan to launch the city's newly expanded convention center.
