The Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) has granted the inaugural IMEX Award for Bureaux staff to Tanya Henry, a Sales Executive with the Brisbane Marketing Convention Bureau.

AACB Executive Director, Mr Michael Cannon, said Tanya impressed the judges with her demonstrated record of success in securing conferences and business events for the Brisbane region, her commitment to continuous improvement and her strong, professional work ethic.

“In the business of Business Events an eye for detail, lateral thinking and imagination with flair is paramount,” said Mr Cannon.

“Tanya portrayed all these attributes – and more – in her submission and we’re very pleased to recognise her efforts her with this Award.”

Mr Cannon said the IMEX Award for Bureaux staff was designed to foster career development and encourage excellence in the young staff members of Australia’s convention bureaux.

Brisbane Marketing Interim CEO, Mr Paul Lewin, said he was delighted to see Tanya’s hard work for the Brisbane meetings and events industry rewarded.

“Tanya is one of the most enthusiastic advocates of Brisbane and a great ambassador for Brisbane Marketing and all of the region’s wonderful business and leisure offerings,” said Mr Lewin.

“There really is no greater compliment than to be recognised by your industry peers as a leader in your field. Tanya always gives 110%, she consistently delivers great results, she leads by example and she’s well respected and liked by colleagues and clients. We’re incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our team.”

“This Award just confirms my view that we have the best people selling Australia’s best business and leisure destination.”

Ms Henry is typically humble about the accolades and praise that have come her way.

“It’s an honour to receive this kind of praise for just doing a job that I love and helping bring business to a city that I truly believe in,” said Ms Henry.

“I genuinely enjoy my role with the Brisbane Marketing Convention Bureau.  It’s not often that you get the chance to work with such a diverse and talented group of people in a stimulating and dynamic environment.”

As the winner of the inaugural IMEX Award Ms Henry will be jetting off to Frankfurt to attend IMEX (The Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events) and its Future Leaders Forum where she will present a brief overview of the industry sector in Australia.

Ms Henry said she was looking forward to attending IMEX and viewed it as an invaluable opportunity to make new contacts in the international conventions and incentive community, broaden her knowledge base and get first-hand inspiration, advice and from industry leaders.
