With business performance and future bookings at record levels, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is restructuring and expanding its sales and marketing team.

The Centre's General Manager Robert O'Keeffe said the opportunity had been taken to bolster the team to facilitate the increasing numbers of major convention bids lodged on behalf of the city of Brisbane and the Centre.

Mr O'Keeffe said the expanded team would provide a sound base from which to achieve even greater business growth.

Shaun Mitchell, previously the Centre's Events Director, already responsible for much of the Centre's sales and event planning, takes on convention sales and the new position of Director of Sales.

Diane Norvick has been appointed Director of Marketing and Communications. Diane is a highly regarded industry professional, having previously held senior sales and marketing roles with both Perth and Sydney Convention Centres and for the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau. Diane replaces Melissa Mac Court who has relocated interstate.

In a further strategic appointment, Alison Gardiner joins the Centre's team as Manager - International Convention Bidding. In what is a new role for the Centre, Alison will manage the International Convention Sales Team.

She will also coordinate the complex bidding process for international conventions to ensure a continued and aggressive drive into the international marketplace - a significant source of increasing business for the Centre.

In a previous position at the Brisbane Convention & Visitors Bureau, Alison was responsible for winning many major, large-scale international conventions for Brisbane. More recently Alison has been working in a key position with a government organisation providing commercial support to research groups and executing commercialisation strategies.

Centre Management will announce further appointments in coming weeks.
