The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre added further to its array of industry awards at the Queensland Tourism Awards presentations when it received its second Hall of Fame Award - an achievement unprecedented in the history of the Queensland Tourism Awards.

In successive years, the Brisbane Convention Centre received the awards for three wins in consecutive years in the Meetings & Business Tourism category and in the Tourism Education and Training category.

Robert O’Keeffe, General Manager of the Brisbane Convention Centre, said the Hall of Fame recognitions were the pinnacle of the many industry and performance awards the Centre has received over the years and follow the Centre’s international ranking among the top three convention centres in the world for the second time in three years.

“Such recognition is a clear endorsement of the Centre’s initiative in identifying the benefits of business tourism and in the priority we place on training – both for the Centre’s own future and the contribution it makes to the future of Queensland’s tourism industry.

“These achievements are a well-deserved reward for the professional performance of the staff as a whole and the support we receive from the Brisbane community,” he said.

Mr O’Keeffe said the Centre’s performance continues to establish it as one of the preferred convention venues both nationally and internationally evidenced by record future bookings held by the Centre until the year 2014.

The Brisbane Convention Centre’s business performance has increased annually throughout its eleven years of operation and that trend is set to continue even with significant growth in competition in the marketplace.
