BestCities.net has been selected by Georgia Tech's Economic Development Institute (EDI), Atlanta, USA as a best practice in tourism and destination management in the Professional Development category.

EDI recently announced BestCities.net’s place among the winners of its second-round competition for best practices in tourism and destination management. The winners are included in the publication of the second volume of EDI’s Guide to Best Practices in Tourism and Destination Management, helping all levels of the tourism and destination management industry adopt successful approaches in the areas of research, funding, professional development, Web marketing and sustainable tourism.

“We are honoured to have been selected as a best practice case study in tourism and destination management”, says Lisa Klint, general manager of BestCities.net. “The designation by this distinguished institution gives us reason to believe that BestCities.net is truly a special and unique alliance and confirms, not only to our partners, but also to our clients, the importance of global alliances in our industry. ”

BestCities.net, the first global alliance of convention bureaus, was launched in 2000. Says Klint, “Our knowledge and best practice sharing across our global membership is such an important part of the BestCities.net global alliance of convention bureau.”

“We are eager to share this with our fellow industry organisations through Georgia Tech's Tourism and Region Assistance Centres (TRACS),” Klint adds. “By benchmarking our performance against 32 service standards, we can monitor our performance, individually and collectively. That's good for the BestCities.net partners and, above all, it's good for our clients.”
