Bahrain’s Economic Development Board announced the appointment of Jacob M Kristiansen as events manager as the organisation strengthens its core marketing team and focuses on raising profile and highlighting Bahrain’s competitive advantage with regional and international investors.

Kristiansen, who has more than 15 years experience in the events and MICE industry, joins the Economic Development Board (EDB) from Magnum Events and Exhibitions Management, part of the Unitag Group, where he was general manager.

He brings with him a wealth of international expertise, having worked on corporate events, rock concerts and experiential marketing campaigns in Denmark, Iceland and the UK for companies including Ernst & Young, BMW, Land Rover and NovoNordic.

Heading up a team of six dedicated events staff, with a brief covering live communication, conception and production of marketing events, Kristiansen’s focus will be on ensuring that Bahrain Economic Development  Board’s corporate signals are transported and effectively anchored in dialogue with chosen target groups.

Kristiansen reports to Jane Dellar, Managing Director of Bahrain Financial Services Development, part of the EDB.

Commenting on the appointment, Dellar said: “Jacob is a real asset to the team and Bahrain. He is committed to planning and implementing the exceptional – in small details as much as in grand projects. With his proven abilities to create effective and emotive events he will play a key role in helping to deliver strategic targeted messages to our core investor market.”

Kristiansen added: “It is a privilege for me to take up this position working for Bahrain - a country that has embraced me and my family since we moved here. With the in-house team, we’ll be creating standout events that showcase the wealth of opportunity the Kingdom has to offer. I look forward to working closely with the local industry as well as international partners to make that happen.”

Kristiansen’s first major project as event manager will be the IMF World Bank meetings in Bahrain in September.
