The British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) announced the recruitment of a new conference destination to its membership.

The new member is: Suffolk Tourism Partnership, which is actively promoting business tourism in its area, highlighting the increasing recognition being given to business, as opposed to leisure, tourism in many destinations in the UK.

Commenting on this addition, BACD chair, Sue Crawley, said: "I am delighted to see the Suffolk Tourism Partnership joining BACD and would like to welcome them as our newest members. We are currently finding that there is a high level of interest in membership of BACD - in the current changing economic climate, tourism destinations are recognising the support that BACD offers to its members and value the crucial role that BACD plays in the UK conference and meetings market."

Suffolk is at the heart of the east of England region with a population of 660 thousand.  It also has the UK’s largest container seaport connecting with 360 ports in 100 countries worldwide, and the fastest growing airport, Stanstead, on its doorstep – only being an hour from London. With over 45 miles of beautiful coastline and delightful countryside, some of its tourist attractions include the Adastral Park – one of Europe’s leading technology parks.

Commenting on joining BACD, Scott Dolling, marketing manager for the Suffolk Tourism Partnership, said: “As a destination home to conference facilities with individual characteristics we are excited to have joined BACD. With a growing demand for these types of venues, we are now well placed in the market to successfully reach those buyers sourcing such unique venues, with the assistance of BACD”.
