The British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) will be launching its Investment Register at International Confex which will be taking place at Earls Court 1, London from 15th-17th February 2005. The Association will be exhibiting in the BACD Pavilion, on stand number B354.

BACD’s new ‘Investment Register’ will be accessible via the website and is a database of all the new investments in conference and business tourism facilities taking place around the UK, enabling browsers to see what developments are underway or planned in each of BACD’s 80 member destinations.

The Register will include a description of each investment project including timescale and cost, and it will aggregate all of the project costings to give a total value for investment in the UK’s conference product and related infrastructure at any given moment.

Tony Rogers, BACD chief executive, said: "A couple of years ago we undertook an ad hoc survey among BACD members to ascertain what level of investment was taking place in 'Conference UK' and came up with a figure of £10 billion.  The Investment Register will give us up-to-the-minute information on what's happening around the British Isles, and we believe this will be a crucial resource for event organisers, consultants, potential investors, the media, and the industry at large.  It's a really exciting development for BACD."

The BACD Pavilion will be the largest stand overall at International Confex, extending to over 300 square metres. Some 20 BACD members will be exhibiting in the Pavilion which will have a real ‘British’ feel to it with stand partners from Wales, Scotland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, as well as many English destinations. In addition, a number of BACD members will be exhibiting outside the Pavilion, some with large island stands for increased exposure.

BACD will also be using the show to distribute its 2005 Destinations Directory and to promote its new website (www.bacd.org.uk), which offers conference and event organisers access to its unique ‘Venue Location Service’ representing 80 destinations and over 2,600 UK venues.
