The British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) has appointed Kate Ansell as sales and marketing co-ordinator.

In this new role Kate will be primarily responsible for marketing the Association’s Venue Location Service (VLS) – BACD’s free, impartial venue-finding service for any organisation which is looking to find a venue in the British Isles.

In addition, Kate will also have responsibility for promoting BACD’s presence at exhibitions and events including BACD’s Confer London event which is being held on 3rd November at One Whitehall Place. She will also operate BACD’s ‘Chaser’ enquiry handling system and provide sales support in the selling of joint marketing opportunities for BACD members and affiliates, including the promotion and administration of BACD’s Induction Courses.

Kate graduated in 2002 from Leeds Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons) in Hospitality Business Management, achieving a first class degree. Her placement year was spent at The Belfry Hotel in Wishaw. After graduating Kate has worked for GE Capital, the West Midlands Police and has travelled throughout S.E. Asia.

Commented Simon Forrester, BACD operations manager: “We are boosting our Venue Location Service with an enhanced quality management system, highlighting what buyers want and how we can improve what we do for them. In her new role, Kate will focus on improving and promoting the VLS and establishing firm relationships with existing and potential conference buyers.”

Meanwhile, Kate has been awarded a place on the ICCA/ EIBTM Forum for Young Professionals which is organised as part of the EIBTM Youth Campaign. The Forum is open to 20 young industry executives and gives them a valuable insight into the industry whilst networking with their peers. This year’s forum will run from Saturday 27th November – Tuesday 30th November in Barcelona.
