BACD AGM & Convention Goes Green

The British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) is holding its 2007 AGM & Convention in Deganwy, North Wales, from the 6th – 8th June 2007.

 

This year’s theme will be ‘The future’s bright.

 

The future’s green’ and the programme will explore the opportunities and challenges that face the future of conferencing.

 

In particular, it will focus on how BACD members and suppliers to the industry can work together to create more sustainable destinations and venues.

 

The conference will also provide an overview of the important issues of today as well as those of the future.

 

The three day convention will be hosted at The Quay Hotel in Deganwy, a superb five star hotel set in a prestigious location. With an idyllic waterside location, the venue is the perfect coastal retreat, overlooking the Unesco World Heritage Site of Conwy Castle.

 

The conference programme will include plenary presentations on:

 

·         ‘The future of the conference industry’ by Rohit Talwar from Global Futures and Foresight. 

·         ‘Winning International and National Association Business’ by Scott Taylor (Glasgow City Marketing Bureau) and MCI Group.

·         ‘Overview of sustainability’ by Emma Edwards-Jones of the Snowdonia Society.

·         ‘What is corporate social responsibility?’ by Iain Palfreman from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

 

BACD chair, Sue Stuart, comments “We’ve assembled a great programme of speakers covering very topical issues and anticipate a highly successful BACD convention. The programme really does offer something for all our members, both full and affiliate, and for others interested in gaining a better understanding of how the conference industry can sustain itself and develop in the future.”
