Association Partnerships Announced For GIBTM

GIBTM announced that key international meetings industry associations will support the inaugural GIBTM event in March 2007.

Partnerships with ICCA, MPI and SITE are now in place and further alliances will be sought.

These partnerships with GIBTM ensure that the meetings industry in the Gulf region is set to grow substantially and will receive essential support from these associations.

Martin Sirk, CEO of ICCA reveals:

"The Gulf region is really taking off in terms of its meetings business: there has been some very far-sighted investment in key infrastructure, especially in meeting space, airports and hotels, and I suspect we'll see significant increases in demand over the coming years in all meetings related segments: corporate, association and inter-governmental; meetings, incentive travel and exhibitions.

For this reason ICCA is delighted to see the launch of GIBTM.  It will be a great platform for the fast growing ICCA members in the region, and for ICCA itself to deliver our unique educational and networking services."

MPI, supporters of EIBTM 2006, CIBTM 2007 and the new GIBTM initiative are also pleased to be on board.  Mark Andrew, 2006-2007 Chairman of the Board, Meeting Professionals International comments:

"For the last two decades, the Gulf has witnessed tremendous development in its hotel, airport and meeting infrastructure and is now able to compete with any international destination. MPI is proud to support GIBTM as this initiative will provide a focal point for the development of the meetings industry in this part of the world."

The Society of Incentive & Travel Executives also continues its support. Brenda Anderson, CEO of SITE, states:

“Reed as always demonstrated its desire and ability to launch shows in regions where there is the increased potential for the meetings and incentive industry.  The GIBTM show is a perfect example of this visionary thinking and SITE is proud to support this endeavour.”

This support for GIBTM will help deliver the key brand values of best professional education providing research and cutting edge education programmes.  It will also support the objective of best business-to-business opportunities available at GIBTM to event participants.

“I am delighted that these leading associations are supporting GIBTM. Each bring a unique perspective to the meetings industry and their support will assist us greatly in our objective of achieving greater recognition for the meetings industry and the meetings profession in the Gulf and wider Middle East.”
