After four years Inge Hanser, of CPO Hanser Services, steps down in favour of André Vietor, National Director of Viajes Iberia, the new President of IAPCO.

André was born in Frankfurt in 1963, were he spent the early part of his career, commencing his professional life with InterContinental with their hotel management course.

After three years he moved around the chain within Germany in a variety of sales positions before moving to Spain in 1991 for the Ritz Carlton Hotel company, for the pre-opening of the Hotel Arts in Barcelona.

He remained there for four years, and then in 1995 joined Viajes Iberia in their Barcelona Office forming the only PCO operation within the company.

In 1998 he was promoted to National Director, opening and managing offices in Madrid, Seville and Valencia, expanding the PCO business to become one of Spain’s leading international PCOs successfully bidding for the World Congress of Cardiology 2006, the  European Cancer Conference (ECCO14) 2007 and the 19th World Petroleum Congress in 2008.

But it is not all work for André. In May this year he married Maria Gutierrez Rojas, whom he has known for six years and who, he says thankfully, is not in the MICE industry, but is closely involved in insurance.

A casualty of his marriage was his two pet snakes, a royal python and a boa constrictor who, Maria felt, did not greatly contribute to the relationship of the happy couple!

His passion for football, Barça, co-incides nicely with his enthusiasm for relaxation, whether smoking his favourite cigars (Bolivar, Portagas or Ramon Allones for anyone wishing to send a belated wedding gift!) or relaxing by the sea absorbing the sound, smell, taste and views.

André will, together with Tilesa OPS sl, host the IAPCO Annual Meeting and General Assembly in Seville in 2007.
