Contrary to its long-standing tradition of conducting its Executive Summit in emerging incentive markets, The Society of Incentive and Travel Executives (SITE) will host its 2006 Executive Summit on March 6, at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Hotel in Cancun, Mexico.

The decision to conduct the day-long educational event in Cancun, an already established incentive destination, was made to show support or the recently hurricaneravaged area of Mexico.

SITE intends to bring attention to the area and demonstrate to the incentive community that it is “business as usual” in this progressive area.

Also, as a means of supporting SITE’s Mexicobased members, SITE will travel to the Yucatan Peninsula to see first hand the destruction this city has absorbed and how the tremendous strides they are making in the building process.

SITE will focus the 2006 summit on topics like disaster recovery, emergency preparedness, and how to promote a destination after such disasters.

“We have intentionally selected Cancun for this event to show our support of the rebuilding of its hospitality infrastructure following the debilitating hurricanes of 2005.” said Bill Boyd, CMP, CMM, CITE.

Mr. Boyd is the immediate past president of SITE and president of Sunbelt Motivation & Travel, Inc., Dallas, Texas.
