to Memphis, Sakara, old Cairo and the citadel.
I initially booked my trip through expedia with hotel and flights. i was starting to worry that it would be dreadful as it was pretty cheap, but i had a great day (other than the heat which is unbearable in sept for people from Scotland!) my tour guide was Suze, who was really friendly and knowledgeable she talked me through everything from hailing a taxi to my relationship issues. I had used another company the day before who were pretty good but about 3x the price plus it was a guy and as a woman travelling on my own it was great to be around a woman. There was a couple with me for the afternoon part and although it wasn’t part of the tour she took us to the Greek orthodox church as that was their religion and dropped them off to do some shopping before giving them some advice on what not to buy there again not part of the tour. The other company most of the tickets etc weren’t included in the price where as they were already included. Plus she was great at telling me exactly when I need to cover up (the heat made it deeply uncomfortable to be covered more than you had to be) and where we could take photos with plenty of time. She also explained to me about how you become a tour guide in Egypt (you need a degree) and carpet schools (they seem to be a cross between an apprenticeship and school which is a good idea cause it stops the children working all day for the same amount of money). I would advise people to bring lots to drink as you don’t really stop anywhere that you want to waste time buying drinks plus comfy shoes that are easy to slip off are great for religious areas (not just mosques!) and blister plasters for Egypt in general for even well-worn shoes I’m hoping to go to the Egyptian museum with them as well.
