World Newspaper Congress at Hyderabad International Convention Centre

hyderabad-ccThe Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) recently hosted the most prestigious event for the newspaper industry, the World Newspaper Congress (WAN) and World Editor's Forum.

The summit, which was held from November 30th to December 3rd, 2009, was inaugurated by the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil.

Other guests of honor included the Chief Minister of the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh, Sri. K. Rosaiah, the President of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), Mr. Gavin O’Reilly and President of WAN Editors Forum, Mr. Vidal-Folch.

More than 2,000 newspaper publishers, managing directors, CEOs, chief editors and other senior newspaper executives attended the Congress and Forum which was organized by the World Association of Newspapers and hosted by the Indian Newspaper Society.

The 4-day summit was comprised of a series of events touching on various issues and topics relevant to the print industry worldwide.

According to Philip Logan, the General Manager of HICC, "It was a privilege and honor to be the chosen venue for holding a summit of such stature. The WAN summit proved to be a great opportunity for us to showcase India and Indian hospitality."

The Hyderabad International Convention Centre, which is managed by Accor Hospitality, is a purpose-built and state-of-the-art convention facility - the first of its kind in South Asia. HICC has executed world-class events, ranging from conventions for 5,000 delegates to seminars for 500 participants and meetings for just 50 people. Adjacent to HICC is the 5-star, 288 room Novotel Hyderabad.
