A ground-breaking ceremony for the 2nd KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition Center) was held in Goyang, northwest of Seoul in march 2009.
2nd KINTEX is scheduled for completion in 2011 - it will double its capacity for a total of 108,000 square meter(1,162,000 square feet) of exhibition and 18,300 square meter(197,000 square feet) of meeting space. 10 Exhibition halls, Auditorium(1,500 seats) and Ballrooms(2,000~6,000 seats) will be able to accommopdate all kinds of international events.
The project is expected to cost nearly W360 billion (US$1=W1,407). Gyeonggi Province says it hopes the second KINTEX will help attract global conventions and exhibitionsevents such as ITE(International Telecommunications Exhibition), ITMA(International Exhibition of Textiles and Machinery) and so on.
