Salvador reports 60% growth of international events

salvador_cvbSalvador is the third most searched city in Brazil to place international events.

This statement is from ICCA - International Congress & Convention Association, in its 2007 annual report regarding to the city of Salvado-BAHIA.

Associated to the ICCA since 2004, Salvador da Bahia Convention & Visitors Bureau presented the data of the sector referring to the year 2007, completing the rank of the three Brazilian cities that most set international events at that year.

“It’s a great achievement for Salvador, once the destination improved its performance in 60% comparing to 2006”, states Silvana Gomes, Superintendent of the Salvador da Bahia Convention & Visitors Bureau.

In the biennium 2007-2008, Salvador confirmed the carrying out of 180 events, which has confirmed an incoming estimated in US$ 228 millions with the visits of 183 thousand people for the city for the future 06 years.

Just in 2008, Salvador hosted events as the XIV International Federation of Social Workers, 9th International Conference on the Structures of Surfaces and International Meeting of Foot and Ankle Society among others that took place in the city. All of them, following the ICCA criteria.
